Eco Treasures, established in 2006, and an affiliated company of Bio Diesel Company is specialized in the extraction of natural products. In recent years, we have acquired enormous expertise and experience in the extraction of minor components from vegetable oils.

Eco Treasures is using, among others, supercritical fluid extraction with CO_² for these extractions.

A supercritical fluid is unique in combining the properties of a gas and a liquid simultaneously. This enables it to enter the source material easily as a gas and dissolve the desired material as if it was a liquid.

By using CO_² as a solvent, extractions can be made at low (barely above ambient) operating temperatures and therefore preserve sensitive active ingredients and ensuring a higher quality product. By simply reducing the operating pressure at the end of the extractions, CO_² returns to its gaseous state. This leaves the valuable extracted products behind without any traces of solvents, thereby avoiding expensive and energy consuming refining stages.

Before converting your feedstock to biodiesel and using it as fuel, it is worth considering exploring the possible extraction of other high value but often overlooked minor components. Especially interesting components where we have built up extraction experience are omega-3, tocopherols, and sterols, among others.
